Mistletoe, the rare and precious plant, grows in clean hills at altitudes of 600 – 800m above sea level. It is a hemiparasite which does not root in the ground but grows on oak trees. It is also known as the golden bough or the sacred herb from the heavens.
It has been widely used in the East and West as medicinal herb and as food, and in Europe it is widely used as one of many folk remedies, as is ginseng used in the East.
With exceptional anticancer and immunity improving effects, it is used as anticancer medicine in Germany and other parts of Europe. It is known as loranthaceae in oriental medicine.
Mistletoes stay green even after all other plants disappear, and stay alive even in the deepest winter, representing the tenacity of life and eternal resurrection. The name comes from the French word Gui, which derived from the Celtic language, with the meaning of “treats all diseases.”
